Quote:

-- William Regal wants former protégé Daniel Bryan to grant him a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship.

He tweeted Sunday, "I've never asked Daniel Bryan for anything for my help and guidance over the years. So now perhaps it's time. I still want to be the first English World Champion. I would like Daniel Bryan to grant me a title shot. WWE pay attention."

Regal then stated in response to those who doubt his ability: "It seems as though a lot of people think the same. One thing though, I don't deserve a title shot, but I want one. Some people think I'm not up to it. People have been counting me out for years but I can still wrestle as good as ANYONE in the world."

Regal faced Bryan in his last WWE match, which took place at the November 8, 2011 WWE Superstars taping in Liverpool, England. Regal's last match on a top-tier show was also against Bryan, on the December 20, 2010 Raw.

-- This May, Mattel will release a WWE Legends action figure on King Kong Bundy via MattyCollector.com. There was an apparent trademark issue with the King Kong Bundy name as the February 2012 edition of WWE Magazine features an advertisement for the action figure and it is branded as "Bundy."[/quote]

Far be it for me to stir the pot ;) , but there are a great many young bucks who would hand Sir William his British posterior on a platter.

Hyperbole like this is all well and good in the world of kayfabe, but it bears no meaning in real life.

Ive been waiting for Regal to get a title run for years I seen his action figure on sale with the championship belt a few years ago and thought he was about to get a run but later realised it was just to get more sales for the toy.

True, but an experienced vet canrun circles around a new guy when it came to in-ring psychology.

Absolutely, which is why I love watching the old masters at work. For me, ring psychology is an art form all on its own and one that is sadly lacking from much of the current product.

While I enjoy watching great athleticism, I also enjoy seeing a master work the crowd or tell a great in-ring story. Both important elements that are often lost in the rush to scratch the A.D.D. itch.

I AGREE!

A lot of it isn't really being lost, there just isn't a lot of guys in the current roster with enough years behind them to do it, I think.

Ever see CM Punk vs Terry Funk? This is post ECW, and Terry can still make magic. Damn, just tried to find it on youtube, no luck. Just a tag match they had in TNA.

They had a brilliant match in ROH. I have the dvd, still watch that one a lot.

Edit: Just had to fix my spelling. :D

Terry Funk was one of the absolute best. I can still remember being in absolute awe watching him for one of the first times early on in his initial WWF run. The guy had such a knack, he could make falling out of the ring (backwards) an absolute masterpiece.

After seeing him pull off such brilliant yet subtle maneuvers time and again, I remember commenting to my buddies that he had more talent in his baby toe than most wrestlers had in their entire bodies.

Sheer poetry in motion.
