He's also changing his point from "It wasn't safer back then" to "Well, bumps still do damage to your body".
No one has ever claimed the latter wasn't true (besides greenhorns who think they're invincible).
My point stands true: The secret in the old days was the boys weren't out there hurting each other. They were protecting each other. Were the guys like Terry Funk who would slug you as hard as they could? Yep. And guess what? They weren't the standard. At all.
I've had Rip swing at my full force. I've felt the wind cut across my face as his fist seemingly went right through my face without hurting me. It was an art, back then, for most guys. They strived diligently to make it seem as real as possible.
Did injuries happen? I dunno, does a bear shit in the woods? Does it make it as dangerous as a lot of modern wrestling, of course not, the idea is complete nonsense. There isn't a single veteran alive that would try to argue that classic wrestling was just as dangerous as modern wrestling.
