- WWE announced the following tonight:

MIAMI — With the crowning of a new World Heavyweight Champion, the Jan. 8, 2013, episode of SmackDown cemented its place in blue brand history just one week before its landmark 700th episode.

On the same night The Rock made his eagerly anticipated return to Friday night’s best show, Alberto Del Rio seized the spotlight and defeated Big Show in a Last Man Standing Match to claim the World Heavyweight Championship.

The Mexican Aristocrat heroically battled The World’s Largest Athlete in an absolutely brutal showdown, literally taking The World’s Largest Athlete to his limit en route to an historic victory.

Del Rio’s title triumph stands as his first World Heavyweight Championship and his third World Title overall. His victory also shows, once again, that anything can happen on SmackDown at any time!

See how it t went down and witness the return of The Rock to the blue brand, this Friday at 8/7 CT only on SmackDown on Syfy.

At last, WWE did the right thing!

It's good to see Del Rio become The World Heavyweight Champion, Instead of Big Show. I hope WWE will not make Del Rio - Sheamus Feud or Del Rio - Big Show Feud. They need to make another Interesting Feud for Del Rio!

This took me by surprise as I was expecting Sheamus to win the WHC and defend it against Orton at WM. They have a feud building up now, so that would make sense.

I like Del Rio, but I think his championship reign will be a transitional one. He will more than likely keep the belt till Elimination chamber and either Sheamus or Orton will win the Royal Rumble and then at EC, one of them win the belt and face each other at WM.

The way WWE is going now, changes are made on a daily basis, so this could all be scrapped.

He victory was just to pass the belt to Ziggler.Don't you see?Look:

Ziggler vs Big Show - Heel vs Heel (doesn't make much sense)

Ziggler vs ADR - Heel vs Face (makes sense)

I know Daniel Bryan(face) cashed in Big Show(face).

Yeah AKI. Don't put spoilers in the actual TOPIC TITLE!

Sometimes I really enjoy a good title change whenever the winner is someone who has been out of contention.

Killer, I would not mind if ADR feuded (or lost the title to) Dolph Ziggler. But let's be realistic. That is NOT what is going on here. ADR is being pushed so that he can job to the heel Orton.

Where the fuck does it say "Spoiler" in the topic title?

I already learned my lesson in the past and CBV has told me many of times. I have not made that mistake in a long time.

Yeah, but what i'm sure is that ADR isn't going to last too much with this Title(till WM maybe).

Agreed. He is a two time champion who has lasted just over 1 month in total as champion so far.
