WWE.com has printed an article on stories that surround Andre the Giant.

1. Hulk Hogan is the only man to have bodyslammed Andre the Giant.

Nope.

Worse still, Hulk Hogan was not even the first man to bodyslam Andre. 'The King' Harley Race, Stan 'The Lariat' Hansen and Kamala have all pulled of the feat before Hogan. But Hogan holds the record for having done it the most.

2. Andre the Giant was drafted by the Washington Redskins.

Nope.

This was a publicity stunt set up by Vince McMahon and Tim Temerario (the Director of Player Personnel for the Washington Redskins in 1975). They even held a press conference to announce Andre's tryout.

But it never happened.

3. Andre the Giant drank 156 beers in one sitting.

No one is certain.

Andre's massive size was the result of a brain tumour. Andre was going to keep growing until his heart couldn't handle it any more. Sadly, Andre died long before the medical procedure to remove the tumour was discovered.

Andre was also the single biggest attraction in professional wrestling. The high money and low life expentancy convinced Andre to party on an almost daily basis. His large size allowed him to put away large amounts of alcohol as well as food. No-one knows how much Andre could drink, because anyone who was with him always passed out or went to hospital before Andre was done.

Andre was notorious for competing when drunk. He once drank so much that he literally feel asleep during a match against John Studd.

4. Jerry 'The King' Lawler once beat Andre the Giant by pinfall.

Nope.

This was a publicity stunt by Lawler. Andre went on a 15-year undefeated streak before being beaten by Hulk Hogan. But Lawler did get one count out victory during this time period.

Lawler sent photos of the match of Pro Wrestling Illustrated. PWI magazine is not exactly known for accurate reporting, but it still has always been the most trust source of professional wrestling based journalism. The magazine announced Lawler's victory, but the article and photos implied that Lawler won by pin. The magazine later ran another article confirming that Andre was still undefeated.

5. Andre the Giant once flipped over a car with 4 men inside it.

Nope.

In theory, it could have happened. But as far as anyone knows, it never actually did.

Andre's near-constant alcohol consumption did sometimes cause him to have angry mood-swings. While he has been known to break stuff (including cars) when he is angry, his temper never led to harm another person.

The closest he came was scaring a female traffic cop. Referee Time White was driving Andre's car to another town after hitting a local bar. The traffic cop noticed White's driving and pulled him over. Andre was frustrated with the delay and intimidated the officer. He swore at her a few times, but then punched out the windshield of his own car.

6. Andre the Giant's final television appearance was for World Championship Wrestling.

This one is true.

The TBS network were celebrating 20 years of broadcasting professional wrestling on the channel. While Andre worked exlcusively with the McMahons during this time period, he was still one of the biggest icons in professional wrestling throughout. He was asked to appear on WCW's Clash of the Champions XX to mark the event. He only appeared for a brief few moments, but this was still his last appearance on TV.

Also, Canek (a mexican luchador) bodyslammed (and defeated) Andre before Hogan, in one of the only appearances of Andre in México.
