Trent Baretta has been released from WWE. His profile was removed from WWE.com, and he has already been booked to face Sonjay Dutt at Pro Wrestling Syndicate's Super Card Night One on April 4 in Metuchen, N.J.

Baretta commented on the release on his Twitter, writing, "So fired right now. Just wanna say thanks to everyone. WWE, all the good brothers, and fans. Thanks."[/quote]

For much of the last year or so, his gimmick was that no-one had seen him in a very long time. No wonder he didn't get over.

First of all, they build him up as part of a Freebirds style stable in OVW and FCW with Curt Hawkins and Caylon Croft (Hawkins went back to FCW voluntarily). They then call the Dudebusters up as a tag team, with Hawkins teaming with Vance Archer in a similar tag team called Gatecrashers. They then fired Croft and Archer. And after months, they put Hawkins and Baretta into a feud based on their former stable. But fans who didn't watch FCW didn't know that Hawkins was a DudeBuster, so it made no sense to them.

And then he disappeared.
