Unreal is a pretty demanding engine for most machines and will beat sub-par hardware into the ground. It's not used for console games without optimizations because the engine was technically built for PC's. I've seen virtually no ue4 engine use in the industry but rather an appropriation of UE4 features into UE3 codepath.
Maybe we will start to see some soon, but the engine was built on perceived new console specs that were severely gimped in the final hardware. Might be part of it. Anywho, my PC is pretty medium-high end for 2 years ago and it's easy to tax your system working in the editor.
I'm kinda in a toss-up at the moment. The 2000 Royal Rumble is a challenge. Not only is it small, and surrounded by audience members, but its mostly concrete and graffiti. Sure, it would be cool to see it remade but it wouldn't even be done justice in the final product due to the angle of stage from the in-ring view. Would basically be a 1:1 high res version of No Mercy's.
My verdict? Not really worth the trouble. I'd be spending DAYS working on a 3d model to show off where only the front view is actually visible in the game. 2/10
HOWEVER...
The 2001 Royal Rumble had an absolutely BEAUTIFUL set that made it into 2k16. Anyone want me to take a crack at a No Mercy version?
King of the Ring completed
Smackdown 2001 Complete
Two new shots of Smackdown added. Note the addition of the WCW/ECW vs WWF minitrons (fully animated), the improved lighting, and optimized glass.
For every arena so far, every titantron is fully animated. However, I have yet to find proper No Mercy animation, and may continue to improvise.
I will be capturing some footage for my demo reel, so stay tuned. I would hope you guys would get involved and throw in some support guys, it's hard to keep motivated with a lack of interest! Anyone care to promote this topic or help me and Wolfpac_69 bring it to life?
