Hyper-Realisim Technique Tutorial
Note I'm using photoshop cs6
1. Open your texture in photoshop
2. Duplicate layer 2 times
3. Filter/Other/High Pass on top duplicate layer
4. Set High Pass Radius 2.5
5. Blending Options
6. Change Blend Mode to Linear Light
Linear Light Settings
7. Layer/Merge Down should have 2 layers now 1 original 1 duplicate with effects
8.Select duplicate layer with effects Filter/Stylize/Diffuse
9.Make sure you select Anisotropic
10.I'm trying different options for better effects here so feel free to use whatever gives you best results with sharpen layer.
I use Unsharp Mask
With these settings
Amount=50
Radius=3.o
Threshold=1
11. On duplicate Layer with Effects Filter/Noise/Despeckle
12. Same layer Filter/Noise/Reduce Noise
With These Settings
Strength=10
Preserve Details=0%
Reduce Color Noise=0%
Sharpen Details=60%
I do not use remove JPEG Artifact
13. Blending Options
14. I blend with original Layer
Opacity=80%
Fill Opacity=80%
That's it I flatten image duplicate layer and do another high pass filter to sharpen and heighten effects
for this finished result
You can run all the options again for a more toonish/painted look have fun everyone and look forward to seeing what people make
