Here is a complete list of all the regional storylines in Career Mode.
Before you enter a region, you are asked to play a very quick mini-game to determine which story you will play. Sadly, there is no way to choose which story you get. You just have to hope for the best.
You will notice that some of the options are blocked. None of the regions actually have as many as 16 stories, so numbers 15 and 16 are always blocked. Some of the stories involve specific legends, so you cannot play these stories if you are using this legend. Alternatively, there are a few stories that require a specific legend, so you can only play it if you are using them. If you are using Belle Jackson or a female created character, all romance based story lines are locked.
Pacific Region Storylines
1. Rival Tag Team – The region’s tag team division is really hot right now. However, a member of an up-and-coming team is out with an injury. Randall puts you into the tag team as his replacement. If you win the Tag Team titles, you can then challenge for the Regional title.
2. Coalition of Wrestlers – There is a group of wrestlers who conspire together to keep themselves on top. They already don’t like you, and are determined to make sure that you don’t get a title shot.
3. Movie Star – Randall has a major movie role for his champion. He thinks that you’d be better for the role, but he can’t justify giving it to you. He agrees to give the role to the champion, and motivates you to win the championship and the movie role.
4. Sensationalized Violence – Randall has decided that the way to draw in large crowds is to have violent and bloody matches. He asks you to make sure your beatdowns are as brutal as possible.
5. Promoter’s Girl – Whether you realised it or not, you have been hitting on Randall’s girlfriend. Word has gotten back to him and he is furious. He has chosen to bury you.
6. Martial Arts Master – Ricky Steamboat has become the region’s most popular star due to his martial arts style. In order to get a title shot, you must become as popular as Steamboat is.
7. Snuka vs Muraco – Jimmy Snuka and Don Muraco are currently in an intense feud. Somehow, you managed to get yourself caught in the middle. You need to come out on top if you hope to get a title shot.
8. Gimmick Envy – Ricky Steamboat is the region’s biggest star. Word has gotten to him that you have said nasty things about him. Now Steamboat is determined to cause trouble for you.
9. Big John Studd – Studd is currently dominating the region, destroying all who challenge him. Before you can even have a shot, you must prove that you are tough enough to face him.
10. Rock and a Hard Place – Don Muraco is the region’s biggest star, and he plans to keep things that way. If you want to be champion, you must become as popular as he is.
11. Killer Champion – Killer Kowalski is the champion, and he has a habit of hurting his challengers. Before you can get a title shot, you need to prove that you are tough enough to be in the same ring with him.
Midwest Region
1. Knock off the Old Champ – The reigning champion calls the shots in this region, and there is nothing that Scotty can do about it. In order to regain control, he needs someone to finally beat the champion once and for all. And Scotty thinks that someone could be you.
2. Vindictive Rival – The first opponent you defeat cannot stand the fact that he lost to a newcomer. So he plots to make your stay in the region as short as possible.
3. Desperate Manager – A manager controls all of the top wrestlers in the region, and thus has all the power. Once you start winning matches, he sees you as a threat to his power. He sends his clients out to stop you advancing any further.
4. Gambling Promoter – Scotty likes to bet on the outcome of matches. And he has been putting his money on you. Scotty puts pressure on you to win matches to ensure that he wins his bets. The more you win, the more he wins, and he rewards you accordingly.
5. The Road Warriors 1 – The tag team scene is hotter than the singles division. In order to become a big star, you need to prove yourself in the tag team division first. This means eventually defeating the Road Warriors for the titles. Do this, and you may get your Heavyweight Title shot.
6. Wrestling’s Richest Man – Ted DiBiase uses his wealth to buy victories and the support of the biggest wrestlers. You need to prove that money can’t buy you championships.
7. One Mang Gang Warfare – One Man Gang has been dominating the region and causing chaos. Scotty needs to find someone who is tough enough to put a stop to him.
8. The Posse – Bob Orton, Jr. is the champion. He has also surrounded himself with a posse of wrestlers who aim to keep the championship belt around his waist. This group are undermining Scotty’s authority, and he needs someone to help get the title away from Orton.
9. The Road Warriors 2 – This is the exact same story as #5. The only difference is that Scotty acknowledges that you have been a successful singles champion in your previous territory.
10. Promoter’s Kid – Scotty isn’t a big fan of yours, but his son is. You are the little boy’s favourite wrestler, and he loves it when you win matches. Scotty pressures you to make sure you win all your matches to avoid upsetting his son. If you keep his son happy, he will reward you with a title shot.
11. The Baron – Baron Von Raschke is the champion, and he has a habit of injuring everyone who challenges him. Before you can have a title shot, you must prove to Scotty that you are tough enough to face Raschke.
Southwest Region
1. The Promoter’s Nephew – Tex’s nephew is an aspiring wrestler. However, Bubba Jones isn’t ready for the big time yet. Tex believes that he could really benefit from your experience. So he puts you two into a tag team, hoping that you’ll take Bubba under your wing. If you both win the Tag Team championship, Tex will give you a match for the Heavyweight Championship.
2. Manipulative Champion – The Champion calls the shots in this region. He is aware of your reputation from your previous region. He doesn’t like you and insists that Tex gives you a tough time by booking you in tough matches.
3. The Champ’s Girl – Whether you realised it or not, you have hit on the Champion’s girlfriend. He is furious and is determined to make your life hell.
4. Fill-In Tag Team – A member of a major tag team has suffered an injury. Tex has put you into the team in his place. If you win the Tag Team Championship as part of this team, then Tex will give you a Heavyweight Championship match.
5. Protective Champ – The champion has been using every trick in the book to make sure he holds on to the championship. Whoever challenges for the title must prove that they are mentally smart as well as physically tough.
6. The Von Erichs – Fritz Von Erich is the champion. His four sons David, Kerry, Kevin and Michael keep interfering in matches to prevent new contenders earning a shot. You will need to outwit the entire family in order to win the title.
7. Tough as Nails – Tex is obsessed with the toughness of his current champion, Terry Funk. In order to get a title match, you need to prove that you are just as tough as Funk is.
8. Beat Down – Dory Funk, Jr. gets hurt in his first match against you. This angers the champion, Terry Funk. Both Funks vow to get their revenge on you.
9. Superstar – Not only is Billy Graham the champion, he is also the manager of all the top stars. He is manipulating them to make sure that he stays on top. You need to outsmart his entire group in order to get a match.
10. Family Feud 1 – (David Von Erich, Fritz Von Erich, Kerry Von Erich, Kevin Von Erich or Michael Von Erich) The Von Erich family rekindles their infamous feud with the Funk family. You need to overcome your old rivals in order to get the title off Terry Funk.
11. Cutbacks – Your stint in the region could be short-lived. The promoter does not have much money and has been letting wrestlers go as a budget cutting measure. He needs to find a way to draw in the crowds so he can earn more money, and afford to re-hire everyone. Help him to restore his roster, and he will give you a championship match.
12. Unimpressed Promoter – Tex is aware of your popularity, but he doesn’t understand it himself. He books you in tough matches to see if you can live up to the hype.
13. The Man of 1,000 Masks – Mil Mascaras is the regions champion, but Tex doesn’t think that you have the same drawing power. You need to prove that you are just as popular as Mascaras in order to get a shot at his title.
Northeast Region
1. Fixed Matches – Tony likes wrestlers who prove their loyalty to him. He asks you to prove your loyalty by losing matches on purpose. Losing matches prevents you from earning title matches, but the second you refuse Tony’s demands, he tries to bury you. You must decide which is more important; keeping your boss happy or becoming the champion.
2. Injured Opponent – In your very first match in the region, your opponent suffers and injury. Thinking that you did it on purpose, he tries to make sure you get injured too by interfering in your matches.
3. Vindictive Opponent – Very similar to story #2, but instead of the opponent being injured, he can’t accept that he lost to a newcomer.
4. Daughter’s Crush – Much to Tony’s chagrin, his daughter has developed a crush on you. But he wants his daughter to be happy, and she loves it when you win matches. So Tony promises that if you keep winning matches, he will eventually give you a title match.
5. Disappearing Jobbers – Tony makes an ominous comment about how jobbers who lose too many matches seem to “disappearâ€. From the outset, he encourages you to make sure you win most of your matches, just in case you might “disappear†too.
6. Bundy Vs. Pillman – Brian Pillman and King Kong Bundy have a fierce rivalry going on. If you are a babyface, then Pillman will join you in your corner and help you beat Bundy for the championship. If you are a heel, then Bundy will help you chase Pillman for the title.
7. The Animal – George Steele is the champion who savages every opponent who challenges him. You need to prove to Tony that you are just as fierce before he will give you a title match.
8. Albano In Charge – Captain Lou Albano is the manager for all of the big names in the region. They have been causing trouble for Tony. So Tony asks you to take out his entire stable in exchange for a title match.
9. Former Friends – As soon as you arrive in the region, Tony informs you that he has some friends in the region you just left. They are not happy with you and have asked Tony to make your life difficult.
10. Critical Promoter – Tony knows your reputation and he refuses to be impressed. You have to work extra hard to convince him to give you a title shot.
Southeast Region
1. Hitting on Promoter – You have hit on Belle and she did not appreciate your advances. She is not convinced that you are serious about wrestling and expects you to work extra hard to prove yourself.
2. Amorous Promoter – Belle has taken a shine to you, and has decided to fast track you to the top-tier. However, she expects you to win. She can’t bear the idea of having a crush on a loser. Keep her happy and she will give you a title match.
3. The Comic Wrestler - (Jerry Lawler) Actor Andy Kaufman competes in the region, and is ruining the industry’s reputation. He refuses to face legitimate opponents and keeps winning fixed matches. Belle believes that if Kaufman faced a real wrestler, then it will restore respect in the region. She believes that you may be the right man for the job.
4. Pilfered Gear – Belle believes that the arrogant Jerry Lawler needs to be brought down a peg or two. She asks you to steal his crown and robe in a bid to humble him. Once you do so, you immediately become Lawler’s main target, and he conspires to cause trouble for you.
5. Rock ‘N’ Roll Express – The popularity of the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express overshadows the Heavyweight division. Winning the Tag Team Championship is a bigger deal than win the Heavyweight Championship, which is exactly what Belle wants you to do.
6. Jimmy Hart in Change – Jimmy Hart manages a group of wrestlers who have been causing problems for Belle. She wants your help in dismantling his stable. If you are successful, she will give you a title match.
7. Mr. Wonderful – Belle advises that the Tag Team Championship is hotter than the Heavyweight Championship. She teams you up with Paul Orndorff and promises you a title match if you win the Tag Team Championship first.
8. Unimpressed Promoter – Belle is well aware of your reputation and she is not impressed. You have to work extra hard to prove you are as good as the rumours claim.
9. Vindictive Former Champ – You are not the only person to come from your last region to this one. The guy you beat for the championship has just arrived too. He is determined to cause trouble for you.
World Region Storylines
1. Enemies from the Past – It can be a long climb to the top. Some of the opponents you defeated earlier in your career are jealous of your success. They have shown up in the World Region to ensure that you don’t become champion.
2. World Class Battle Royal – Even though you have made it to the World Region, Hiro doesn’t believe you will ever be worthy of a World Title match. However, if you win the World Class Battle Royal, then Hiro will have to give you a title match. But first you must earn a spot in the match.
3. Rival Promotion – Another company is providing strong competition for your new employer. Hiro genuinely believes that you are one of the best performers in the world. He asks you to ensure that you put on exciting matches so that Hiro stays ahead in the ratings.
4. Superfly – Jimmy Snuka is the World Champion, but Hiro does not think that you are on his level. You must prove that you are as good as Snuka in order to get a title match.
5. The Iron Sheik – The Iron Sheik is the regional champion, and he has retained the title with the help of Nikolai Volkoff. If you want a shot at the Iron Sheik, you must go through Volkoff first.
6. Hulkamania – Hulk Hogan is the World Champion, but Hiro does not think that you are on his level. You must prove that you are as good as Hogan in order to get a title match.
7. Andre the Giant – Andre the Giant is the World Champion, but Hiro does not think that you are on his level. You must prove that you are as good as Andre in order to get a title match.
8. The Best There Is – Bret Hart is the World Champion, but Hiro does not think that you are on his level. You must prove that you are as good as Hart in order to get a title match.
