A few things you can do for matching color
match color is one option you can make a color overlay layer too and sometimes you can edit the palette and the hardest is to adjust hue saturation by eye
match color works best if you have 3 tones high medium low or light normal dark
also can not have several different things present like just body or face no hair attire no skin ext.
Tip #1
blow the pic up 400% normal pic
400%
almost essential for hires
Tip #2 layers never direct edit a layer make a copy and edit that way if you mess up can quickly revert back or check other layer for progress
I can have upwards to 100 layers on one face
can always blend layers too for better effects
Tip #3 save progress in psd
that way you can open up work never know when pc will crash update or power go off I have lost some incredible work by spending insane hours and not saving progress lol
Tip #4 Try to keep as much as original pic as you can and when erasing use a soft
brush at low opacity and again make copies
of layers that way you can blend them to together to add texture
ok when adding face pic make 3 copies first
like so
cut the hair away and add to own layer
now of course we will need better hair with game hair or texture hair later it is a place holder and we want the hair line
now it's time to size fully and blend erase solid lines on edit layer leaving base layer hidden and unedited again make a copy edit
layer and edit copy leaving edit layer hidden
good now time to color match
don't worry about erasing too much at this stage hence why we kept back up copies we will add texture back later
now copy layer again before matching
now here's a nifty trick/tip
blending options select luminosity
before color match
ok you can develop your own way/style this is just the base way
ok now I make a copy of the luminosity layer and another copy of the edit layer
now we color match the layer of the edit layer we just copied
I set fade to 50 so eyebrows bleed through
depends on pic on how far to set fade
remember we have the luminosity layer to fully match skin
ok a bunch of small steps
first highlight the luminosity layer hide all other layers but template
and then flatten image and copy the texture
then edit step backwards to layers are back
delete original luminosity layer and paste new one you copied
now make sure it is above the last layer we color matched
go to blending options and set as color
now the small steps
take lasso tool and go around eyes and lips and delete
you can do eyebrows too if you are real good with lasso but I use soft eraser and go over eyebrows myself
can you see how well the color is matching now though?
progress so far
we are far from done lol
like I said can have access of 100 layers
