<blockquote class='quote\\_blockquote'><dl><dt>Quote:</dt><dd> </dd></dl><div>Prometheus actress Charlize Theron recently teased ScienceFiction.com with some tid bits about her character 'Vickers' which she plays in Prometheus.

"Vickers is such a different character for this story. She’s not a believer. She’s not a scientist. She comes with this very frigid, cold, economic mind, and yet there’s something about her that’s questioning and doubting" says Theron to SciFi.com.

This, following her interview with Collider at Comic Con where Charlize stated this about her character:

"She’s the suit that runs the company that has nickeled and dimed this whole thing together, to fund this mission…She starts out one thing and ends up another thing. It’s a pretty nice surprise, toward the third act, so I don’t want to ruin that for you, but she really does start out very one-dimensional.

The great thing about Ridley is that he shoots everything so layered that you always wonder. There were many days that I showed up and he would do this tiny little thing like throw me in the corner, just lurking. And then, all of a sudden, that became a character trait. I would always be in the corner, lurking over everybody, and not saying anything, but just watching. Then, you realize that it really adds to this enigma of this character and what her agenda really is" - Collider

The cast and crew of Prometheus are keeping everything fairly secret, but at the same time just saying enough to keep the fans guessing and excited. You can read the rest of their article over at ScienceFiction.com.[/quote]

Ok dont quote me on this, but my general feeling about "Vickers" character is that she is part of a experiement that goes wrong and morphs into some sort of hybrid Alien!! Now from the screens I posted in this topic there is a shot of her that looks like she has alien type legs in the hanger bay where the scientists are watching on!! She is crawling in a funny way! Now I could be wrong, but she seems to be a lead character in this movie and plays a huge part! Now when this film was announced that it would contain "Alien DNA" My feeling is that she has some sort of Alien DNA impanted into her and breeds into the "Alien". Now remember the original Alien movies consisted of a "Queen"! How did this alien ever be able to produce eggs without some sort of "Male" implantation? It was never explained!! I feel that this tells some sort of story of the creation of the Alien!! It may contain Human DNA!! This seems very intersting. Im Pumped!!

<blockquote class='quote\\_blockquote'><dl><dt>Quote:</dt><dd> </dd></dl><div>Filming may have finished at Pinewood but it looks like Prometheus is now moving to Spain:

•Filming will take place at Ciudad de la Luz, a big filming studio in Spain (Alicante).
•The studio has been booked from August 22th to December 10th.
•They will start building the sets next week, but filming won’t start until the last week of September (when Ridley arrives).
•Guy Pearce and Fassbender will be doing the scenes for now, Theron may be there too.
•They will be filming the scenes in a huge water tank, also a beach.
•There will be a scene where a huge ship (they say yacht) is caught in a storm.
•Near 250 people will be involved in the filming process, with a cost over 1 milllion Euros.[/quote]

Damn! They are taking this movie Global!

Prometheus synopsis leaked?

<blockquote class='quote\\_blockquote'><dl><dt>Quote:</dt><dd> </dd></dl><div>Earth. Year 2058.
Archaeological digs in Africa reveals alien artifacts that proves
humans were genetically engineered by a advanced alien race (space
jockeys). These "Alien Gods" also terraformed Earth in order to make
it habitable for their human creations.
Amongst the finds are coordinates to the Alien Gods' home-world.
To Paradise.
Months later the Weyland Corp launch the spaceship PROMETHEUS and his
crew, into deep space to make first contact. Thanks to faster than
light travel a few years later the PROMETHEUS enters the Zeta Riticuli
star system. Humans are greeted by their makers, then transported
further into space to a scary yet fascinating world.
The Alien Gods are proud of their "children", their first creation to
reach such levels of intelligence.
As a reward they share bits of their astonishing bio-based
technologies with the humans.
But for one member of the Prometheus' crew it's not enough.
In a treacherous act he steals the "bio-source code" to Terraforming,
A technology at the origin of all Gods' powers, that could make humans
equal to their creators.
The Alien Gods may be scientists but are also ruthless conquerors,
destroyers of worlds who will not accept humans as equals.
They unleash on the escaping human crew their favorite bio-weapon, a
creature used to "clean up" worlds before colonization. But something
goes wrong in the process and humans manage to turn the bio-weapon
against their makers. Giving birth to a smarter, nastier, bigger breed
of gut eating creatures. Creatures that will be the demise of
Paradise.
What's left of the Prometheus crew manages to escape the doomed alien planet.
On their trail a survivor Alien God on a familiar ship with an
ultimate mission.
Bring the wrath of the Gods to Earth.[/quote]

If this is legit and from the screencaps of the actual movie, this makes perfect sense.. Holy cow this is gonna rock!!

<blockquote class='quote\\_blockquote'><dl><dt>Quote:</dt><dd> </dd></dl><div>Some of you may remember that back in May I posted an image showing the large walls of crates that were set up in the backlot at Pinewood studios to hide props, vehicles and part of the set.
Today I can reveal a couple of the things that were hidden behind those walls thanks to an anonymous source.

This source has also informed me that the image of what was thought to be rocket engines I posted earlier this month are actually not rocket engines but huge air vents from inside a space ship.

The first of today's images shows the vehicle we've previously seen glimpses of in the grainy SDCC 2011 images, and the second image looks a bit like one of the 'feet' seen on the right hand side in the official image.
My source tells me this is in fact a huge lifter.[/quote]

I stumbled upon this on the IMDB Prometheus message board. Apparently it has been bouncing around the web for a while. Not sure if you guys have seen it yet?
Check it out: (Notice the being next to the human...one of the transformed crew?)

PgAu8.png

Now that to me looks like it could be "Vickers"(Theron) could be the test subject for the transformation into a alien.. Again, if you check the screens of the movie, you will see Vickers with weird legs, walking odd! It all seems to add up now.. Interesting!

<blockquote class='quote\\_blockquote'><dl><dt>Quote:</dt><dd> </dd></dl><div>Sigourney Weaver recently commented on Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' today with HollywoodOutbreak. She mentions briefly how Ridley Scott is going with the ideas she purposed to him. Investigate the Space Jockey and explain how the Alien eggs arrived on the Jockey ship in the first place...

Sigourney:
"I actually talked to Ridley about this very idea, and I’m delighted he’s doing it. I feel it’s in good hands. It’s a wonderful franchise and if they can invigorate the creature, it could have another life,"

"When you find [the alien] in the first movie with what we call the Space Jockey, the kind of strange creature with the elephant face… anyway, the eggs were in its ship, so where do they come from? So it’s like kind of following that storyline with, I hope, another great ensemble." - HollywoodOutbreak[/quote]

Music to my fucking ears! To hear Sigourney Weaver practically confirm this will be based on the beginning of the "Aliens" and "Spacejockey" is great! I think this is going to be epic!

No bro..

The film is apparently set 30+ years before Alien, so she would have not even been born yet!! She merely had some input in the plot of the film as she is good friends with Ridley Scott of which she worked with back on the original Alien movie in 1978..

The film is connected to the Alien movies, but does not neccesary relate to "Aliens"... Its more about the "Spacejockeys" and "Terraforming Planets"... Gods! Etc..

If you have not watched Alien before, you should bro.. Its a masterpiece in film making.

Good to hear bro!!

With Alien you will obiviously see similatities with this movie..

I heard threw a good informer that this movie will be a one-off!

Problem im having is the PG-13 rating. Its still in discussions if it will be released in cinema as a PG-13 or 18 rated! Personally 18 rated is the way to go.. Die-hard Alien fans will not dig the waterdowned version..

I WANT BLOOD AND GORE AND CHESTBURSTERS!!..... OH! AND CHERLON THERON's TITS!

MTV Movies Blog had a recent chat with Prometheus actor Patrick Wilson, who is currently filming TV drama "A Gifted Man".
We've heard a lot of positive feedback from actors and crew regarding how amazing it was to work on a Ridley Scott directed sci-fi movie, and now Wilson adds his excitement.

"It was an absolute thrill. I was blown away by [the script] and I don’t use that sort of phrase a lot, but I was blown away by it, so excited that I wanted to read it again. I just kept re-reading it, even though I knew what was coming. And put it this way, I’ve never done this, I've never finished the shooting on a movie, and then on the ride home read the script again. I had no reason to read it, it was not work-oriented, I just really loved it, it’s so cool."
Like with most of the other actors in Prometheus, there's a lot secrecy around Patrick Wilson's character. He doesn't give us much, but he does admit his involvement is short but somewhat important.

"There is an importance to my character, certainly size [of the role] was not the issue. It's an exciting, thrilling script, so to be a part of it on any level, I said ‘Yes, just tell me where you want me to be, I will be there.’ It was great. It was nice to come in just as they were finishing shooting, just to play a little bit"
"As you can imagine, [Prometheus] is very wonderfully exiting, and yet so complicated and layered, which to me is what science fiction is all about, when it operates on many, many levels."

<blockquote class='quote\\_blockquote'><dl><dt>Quote:</dt><dd> </dd></dl><div>Back in March I reported that 'Prometheus' could be partially inspired by Erich von Daniken's hypothesis that mankind was created by aliens, who were seen as gods amongst ancient civilizations. This story was further backed by Ridley Scott himself in June when he announced at the Cine Europe expo that:

"The (space) journey, metaphorically, is about a challenge to the gods. NASA and the Vatican agree that is almost mathematically impossible that we can be where we are today without there being a little help along the way. That's what we're looking at (in the film), at some of Eric von Daniken's ideas of how did we humans come about."
Now it seems Fox has quietly updated the synopsis with an extra little piece of information to confirm this. The updated synopsis, which can be found on the official Prometheus page on Facebook:

Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Alien in his ship according to von Daniken. Space Jockey?
In von Daniken's 1968 book 'Chariots of the Gods', he explains his idea of how humans saw alien visitors as gods because of their advanced technology, which the ancient human civilizations believed to be supernatural powers. Therefore these aliens must be gods, and according to van Daniken this belief is the basis of religion.

Also, Ridley Scott has pointed out that Prometheus is about "gods and engineers" and that the name Prometheus is not just coincidence.

In Greek mythology, the Titan Prometheus and his brother Epimetheus were given permission by the gods to create life on Earth.

Prometheus created man from water and clay, and the goddess of wisdom, Athena, breathed a soul into man. Epimetheus created all the other creatures on Earth and gave them all the good qualities, so Prometheus made man stand upright like the gods to make them more superior.

We all know Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to the humans, but Prometheus also gave humans science, maths, medicine and arts, the foundations for modern civilization - a mind of their own, uncontrolled by the gods, free will.

Before Prometheus' revelations to humans they had lived in a state of timeless harmony, a counter-image of civilization.

In a similar story from The Bible, we hear of Adam and Eve living in a state of timeless harmony and ignorance, until they crossed God by eating from the tree of Knowledge.

This place was called 'Paradise', which also was the working title for 'Prometheus'.
A coincidence?

(source: Prometheus on Facebook)

&.....

MTV Movies Blog had a chat with Prometheus writer Damon Lindelof back at the Comic-Con in July.
The interview is now online, and in it Lindelof throws in a couple of teasers about some of the characters.
Unfortunately the video is not available outside the US due to "copyright reasons", but I'm sure it will appear on YouTube soon.

About Michael Fassbender's character, David, Lindelof says:

"He plays a robot. One of the things that evokes the idea of 'Blade Runner' is, 'What does the movie look like from the robot's point of view?' If you were to ask him, 'What do you think about all of this? What's going on? What do you think about these humans who are around you?,' wouldn't it be cool if we found a way for that robot to answer those questions. When you cast a guy like Fassbender, who's going to bring a lot more to it than [makes clichéd robot movements] — that was me doing the robot, I don't know if you could tell — it's not Anthony Daniels. All due respect. He's phenomenal. But C-P3O…"

About Charlize Theron's character, Meredith Vickers:

"Her character's name is Meredith Vickers and she's sort of a corporate entity. That's another one of the familiar things from the 'Alien' movies — that there are corporate interests in play. I feel like Charlize brought a new spin on that old variation. It's a remix …. I don't think she's slimy [like Paul Reiser's character in 'Aliens']. She's not the fast-talking, snake-oil face of the company. By the way, "What company is she a face of?," I think is a big part of the fun. As we were developing the script, she had some really cool ideas that made it not the suit you're used to."

And about the whole cast:

"I think one of the really cool things about the first 'Alien,' if you watch it cold, Ripley is kind in the background like one of the crew members, and you're like, 'Skerrit's [who played Captain Dallas] the hero of the movie,' and he's one of the first to go. And then you're like, 'It's [the engineer played by] Harry Dean Stanton.' And, no, he's gone… and suddenly Sigourney Weaver, in the last 40 minutes of the movie, is the only one left alive. I think the idea of building a really cool ensemble and again presenting the audience with like, 'Who's going to be left standing at the end of this movie? Maybe all of them. Probably not,' [that's] part of the fun of what we set out to do." [/quote]

Holy SHIT!!

Browsing Twitter this morning, a new post from Christopher Duvall (@Tofur) from TofurRamblings.blogspot.com mentioned he was viewing an advanced preview of the Prometheus Trailer. According to Tofur's blog, Chris operates a movie theatre and has been in the business since 1986. Since his post on Twitter, he has recieved many questions from various followers and he has answered some of them rather surprisingly. Read below for some of the statements he has made via his twitter feed:

@noeon5678: however, looked like a cleaner version of that future but had that Ridley Scott feel written all over it.

@noeon5678: there were no Giger aliens in at all. If you were quick, you could see the space jockey from the wrecked ship.

@noeon5678: Difficult. The trailer had cuts of fades from scene to scene. It didn't say anything about being a prequel either.

UPDATE!!!

We asked Chris if there were any references to the original Alien characteristics (facehuggers, chestbursetrs, etc..) anything to suggest a link to the original ALIEN.

He replied by saying: @prometheus_site none at all...just a couple quick shots of the derelict space ship and the space jockey.

Also.......

^^ I dont think this is gonna have much "Aliens" that we all know and love from the original films. Its connected, but just a little.

This site seems to have conducted an interview with Noomi Rapace about various topics relating to film making and also touching on her role in Ridley Scott's Prometheus. The page was translated using Google, have a read below. We have cut and pasted the part regarding Noomi's Prometheus involvement:

"Alien and Terminator
The collaboration with Ridley Scott in Alien universe, but not really part of the Alien series. Rapace are not allowed to reveal the action, she is only allowed to talk about her character.

- I play Elizabeth Shaw, a researcher and archaeologist. She is English but grew up in Africa for his father was a missionary. From him she had faith in God, and have a strong inner self. She is NOK most whole person I have done. She has an inner light. She is very stubborn and determined. She lost her parents when she was a child, as she has from early times been alone. But she is very intelligent. I know that when one has survived a long time myself, so be strong. But also fragile, for the wounded child within her has not been'll develop naturally. One is emotional lettbrekkelig. She is full of hope, a dream, a little naive. In the middle of the movie is a lot of things and she transformed into a warrior - another aspect of her springing to life."

In related news, Sixteen19 have Prometheus listed on their projects lineup!

Thanks to Rick and @zsoltifiddler for the news!
