It seems that fans may be responsible for Daniel Bryan's fast face-turn.

Daniel Bryan joined the Wyatt Family, but then turned on his new allies only 2 weeks later. The entire story line had been devised by Vince McMahon, and he had not given anyone any previews about what he wanted to do with the angle. There is a belief that Bryan was going to escape the Wyatt Family at Elimination Chamber, WrestleMania XXX, or a Raw in between. This would lead to a pay-per-view match between Bryan and Bray Wyatt.

It has been reported that WWE Management were "100% fully embarrassed" by footage of sports fans at Michigan State chanting "Yes!". The incident was reported on Sports News media with the links to Daniel Bryan and the WWE being made. It is not known why this embarrassed the WWE, other than because Bryan was a heel when this happened. However, it should be noted that the WWE also recently had to cancel a planned ending to an episode of Raw because the fan reaction to Bryan was too much. Triple H would later stated that management were surprised by the reaction even though they were in Bryan's native Washington.

The decision to have Bryan turn on the Wyatts so soon was a realisation that Bryan was too popular to work as a heel right now. Vince McMahon and Triple H are trying to keep the focus on larger stars who are 6' 2'' or taller. But yet Bryan, who is 5' 10'', is one of the most popular stars in the company right now. This is not a sign that Bryan will be receiving any kind of push, just that he will be working as a face for now.

There is a rumour that the current storyline is a delayed punishment from Vince McMahon. Triple H called off a match between Bryan and Randy Orton on an episode of Raw last year after a medic declared that Bryan was genuinely hurt. The normally quiet and respectful Bryan sought out Triple H and yelled at him afterwards, in front of other staff members. McMahon felt that this was very unprofessional of Bryan and insisted that he attempted to undermine his employers. McMahon wanted Triple H to punish Bryan, but Triple H refused and even apologised to Bryan. Despite the booking that Bryan received since, he continues to grow in popularity. Again, this is a rumour and cannot be confirmed.

Bryan introduced the "Yes!" chant after winning the World Heavyweight Championship in December 2011. Fans have used the chant to show support for Bryan since. The most notable occassion was after WrestleMania 28 when fans chanted "Yes!" throughout Raw and for hours afterwards in the surrounding city.

This guy's career is one big example of the fans telling the company what they want. I love how much he has overcome.
