There's only one texture that is applied to all four turnbuckle posts, but because each post has its own polygon point map, you can edit how the texture is applied to each post. There's a group of addresses within each respective poly point map that determine what palette (colors) will be used on the texture, so if you edit this value the texture is changed, at which point PJ64 will dump a new "variant" version of the turnbuckle post graphic that you can edit as you wish, so long as you create a code that tells the game to load your changed palette. So in that sense, you are basically creating a new variant texture from the ringpost graphic. I'll explain this further when I write up the arena hacking guide (hopefully will have that up this weekend).
