I haven't seen a thread like this on OSR, So i thought i would give it a shot.
My idea is to discuss things in the wrestling business that were supposed to happen, but due to tragedy or some other circumstance never happened.

I mean something that would have REALLY had an effect if it had happened.

I'l start off with something that has always made me wonder, how it would have played out if it had happened.


Few years ago, i had read that just before the death of David Von Erich in japan , the plan was to have him win The NWA World Title AND turn him heel upon his return. Sadly David never made it back from japan & Kerry went on to have a short 18 day run with the title.

So what do you guys think how would a Heel NWA World Champ David Von Erich have changed wrestling?

We'd be seeing Von Eric vs Flair on Impact this Thursday. ^o)

I think a lot of great historical matches would have been had, and we'd probably still see all the Von Erics alive and well.

David was the strongest link.

I always used to wonder how we would have looked back at Flair and Hogan at Wrestlemania VIII. Talk about the biggest booking botch of all time. All time.

Although I loved the Flair/Savage match, Hogan/Flair would have made Wrestlemania VIII one of the best of all time.

I(and a lot more people) have always wondered about what would happen if Bret fought Hogan at Summerslam 93.

We would be debating who the greatest WWE champion was; Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Roddy Piper or Christian?

A heel David Von Erich would have been great to see Jake Roberts wrestle, in his prime.Jake was a darker character, but he was over with everyone at the time. Von Erich and Roberts both being second generation wrestlers, it would be fun to see what they could have done together.

Not just with their in-ring experience, but story-line wise, as well. Both personalities were so different, it could have been a great feud we still talk about today, whether a title was ever involved or not. Von Erich, a super baby face boy from a wrestling legend.... loved by all the people..... who has turned his back on everything that made him a star. He hates the fans. He's become big enough that he doesn't NEED their approval to be one of the biggest names in the industry.

Jake Roberts is one of the greatest anti-heroes in wrestling. He is from the other side of the wrestling tracks. His father didn't encourage him to wrestle or believe in him... let alone like him. His daddy didn't hold his hand all the way to the main event, and then let him rest upon his shoulders to keep that spot. No. Jake learned on his own, made his OWN name. Became a man that lives in no one's shadow. He came from nothing and became one of the biggest names in the industry without having to use his father to do it!

Man.... I want to see that happen.

The WWE Network fails completely,

I remember of the History Of Wrestlemania,
Vince said if the first Wrestlemania had failed, it would have been the end of the company.

Do you think if The WWE Network fails it will have the same sort of effect?

If they get the network, I'm not sure how it will do.

If it fails, it will fail hard, but I don't think anything can kill WWE right now. Lose a fuckton of money, indeed.

However, what if they did it right?

What if I finally get my awesome sit-com, "Everyone Loves Cena"? At least then all the laughs will be intentional. They should have a Tuesday Night Titans like show with CM as the host. With Alberto Del Rio running the band and laughing at all his jokes.

I bet that is why Scott Hall got picked up in a limo. They're gonna have a reality show called "How Scott Died".

What if Bret had stayed with the WWF/E and did not sign that contract with WcW?

Would he have still been a major player in the organisation, or was WWF's plan to have HBK been the face of the company?

I always wondered if Bret had stayed with the company would we have seen him feuding with up and commers like The Rock, Triple H, Shamrock, etc.

Hell, would we have seen a HBK vs Rock feud? I know HBK and The Rock dispise each other due to reasons well documented, but it could have been the true Icon vs Icon match up.

Would Austin been a major player if HBK and Bret were around at that time?

I think if Bret was still in the WWF, Owen would still be living, Bret would keep the title until Royal Rumble 98 in a triple threat casket match between him, HBK, and Undertaker. Because of two caskets instead of one, HBK's back wouldn't have broken, thus a healthy Shawn facing Stone Cold at Mania, which would continue until the summer of 98. In short, Bret would be in the main event until 2001, where he would retire, Shawn would probably be a broken man because his back injury didn't give him a revived faith in Christ, and other shit would be fucked up.

This is only hindsight though.

I diagree, except about the Owen part.

McMahon ordered Bret to sign the contract. If Bret had of refused, he would simply have been future endevoured. Assuming that he never signed a contract with WCW, Hart would struggle to get work as most independent companies couldn't pay him enough or capitalise on him properly. Michaels would still be pushed as the face of the company because the condition of his back was unknown.

The eventa leading to Owen's death would not have happened. They would not have had him team with Jarrett, so he would not have refused to do an affair storyline. And therefore, he would not be punished with the Blue Blazer gimmick that inevitably saw him die.
